Day 31, Friday September 9
St. Dalmas to le Boréon
We are now on the GR52 headed for Menton. While the GR5 heads south from St. Dalmas down the valley of the Tinée toward Nice, the GR52 first heads north, then east almost into Italy, and then south toward Menton. Four days to go: one easy day, two long, and one quite long.
Whenever we are are high in the mountains now, we look south, hoping for a glimpse of the Mediterranean. No sightings yet.
Today was a good hike in fine weather, but we were both still tired from climbing in the heat yesterday. I didn’t enjoy today as much as I would normally. We are in a quiet hotel tonight and plan to be in bed early.
