Hello from Paris

I arrived in Paris yesterday after a good flight from Vancouver. I will be in France until August 22 when I go to the Netherlands to meet up with Inge. We will fly back to Vancouver together on September 9.

Tomorrow I’m off by TGV (the high speed train) to Hendaye on the on the Atlantic coast in the southwest corner of France. Hendaye is on the border of Spain. Tuesday I start a 24 day walk in the Pyrenees.

It is warm and humid in Paris. The city is full of tourists. This isn’t the best time of year to visit. Today I walked, enjoying familiar places and trying to use French as much as possible. My French is very rusty, but it comes back and everyone here is pleased if you speak French, no matter how poorly.

Here are a few photos from walking today.

  1. Love your photos, esp the historical Metro. Rode the TGV to start a bike tour of the Loire Valley many years ago – it’s great. Wishing you a fabulous trip and looking forward to your amazing photos. Bon Voyage!
